I have been teaching elementary age students since 2006. My educational background is a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Elementary Education. I am certified in Elementary Education and Special Education in the state of New York. I have been a classroom teacher and worked with students in small groups and one to one in a traditional school. My additional experience includes three years of working with a family developing and implementing a home schooling curriculum in all subject areas, teaching English to students in Asia, along with teaching small group and 1:1 classes on Outschool since 2020.
My passion is helping students become more motivated learners through improving their self-confidence with tailored instruction and encouragement to reach their potential. My areas of expertise are reading, writing, math and executive functioning. I have extensive experience with accelerated reading growth and with assessing and remediating skills gaps in reading, writing and mathematics. I love to help students find a topic that inspires them and create a project that helps them use their talents to express what they have learned.
I have worked with students on the autism spectrum, with speech and language disabilities, learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, attention deficits, along with neurotypical students. I can honestly say that I have basically seen it all and have truly loved every minute of it.
